However, there is a way to improve a smile in a shorter amount of time with the use of Lumineers. Porcelain Lumineers are ultra-thin pieces of porcelain that are bonded or cemented to the fronts of teeth. Lumineers are extremely popular because they are thin and translucent, making them very natural-looking.
Before Lumineers, traditional veneers were thick and required tooth enamel to be reshaped and removed in order for the veneer to fit. If not enough enamel was removed, the veneers had the potential to look big and bulky. With the use of Lumineers, little to no tooth enamel has to be removed. Because Lumineers are so thin, they appear more natural-looking and not bulky.
Even though Lumineers are very thin this doesn’t affect their durability. Lumineers are very strong and if taken care of they can last long. Also because Lumineers require little to no enamel removal, no anesthesia or drilling is necessary and the procedure can be completed in two appointments. At Prescott Dental Arts we provide Lumineers for our patients. If a person decides to have Lumineers done, two appointments will be made for them at our Prescott Arizona office.
For the first appointment, impressions will be taken of the teeth and sent to the lab for fabrication of the Lumineers. At the second appointment our dentist Dr. Herbert will check the shape, color, and fit of the Lumineers. If everything looks and fits satisfactory the Lumineers will be bonded or cemented to the teeth and the patient will leave the office with a new beautiful smile.
