Prescott TMJ Treatment
Prescott Dental Arts offers Treatment for TMJ /TMD for your family in Prescott, Arizona.
The joint that connects the jaw to the skull is called the temporomandibular joint or TMJ. The temporomandibular joint works like a hinge and usually glides smoothly without any discomfort. However, when pain with chewing or another movement of the jaw occurs, this could be a sign of Temporomandibular Joint Disorder or TMD.
When someone has popping or clicking sounds or pain when moving their jaw up and down, they may think this is normal. However, TMD is not normal, and the dentist should address it. At Prescott Dental Arts, we work with many patients who suffer from TMD. Anyone who is experiencing the following symptoms should contact our Prescott AZ office for a consultation.
- Severe headaches
- Pain that radiates to the neck and shoulders
- Popping or clicking sound when moving jaw
- Loose teeth

- Facial pain
- Trigeminal neuralgia
- Pain that radiates to ears
Many things can cause TMD. Grinding or clenching the teeth is one of the most significant contributors. Grinding or clenching at night is a common occurrence. A person may not even realize they grind or clench due to the fact they are asleep, or they do it unconsciously during the day. Grinding and clenching are prevalent, and a majority of people do it, whether they know it or not. This condition is called bruxism.
