The Hows and Whys of Porcelain Veneers

At Prescott Dental Arts, we can usually have veneers completed in two or more visits. For porcelain veneers, Dr. Herbert prepares the teeth by removing a thin layer of enamel making room for the veneer. Typically only one millimeter of tooth enamel is removed to create enough room for the veneer to seat properly in the mouth.

After the teeth are prepared impressions are taken and sent to a lab where the veneers will be fabricated. The patient will wear a temporary until the veneers are completed. Once the veneers return from the lab Dr. Herbert will bond the veneers permanently. The bond helps to strengthen the veneers, allowing the patient to chew and eat with ease.
